2340 Foundation Celebrated Excellence

Foundation awards scholarships and honors employees and alumni in the

Marana Unified School District

The Marana Schools’ 2340 Foundation held their ninth annual Celebration of Excellence luncheon on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain.

In keeping with the 2340 Foundation’s commitment to support the outstanding work being done in the Marana Unified School District, the event recognized student academic achievement, and employee and alumni excellence. Dan Marries, KOLD-Tucson News Now anchor, acted as Master of Ceremonies.

At the luncheon, three MUSD employees received Outstanding Staff Awards:

  • Jessica Leonard, Teacher, Butterfield Elementary School
  • Beverly Burgett, Café Supervisor, Food Services
  • Marisa Castro, Social Worker, Student Services

Outstanding staff awards were sponsored by Arizona Communication Experts, Chasse Building Team, and Waste Management.

The 2340 Foundation also awarded scholarships to twelve MUSD high school seniors:

  • Marana High – Charles Anderson, Colin Bourguet, Eleanor Lozano, David Mora, Jakob Theis
  • Mountain View High – Kashi Altamirano, Marcus Booker, Keylaney Gutierrez, Pablo Humberto Pena, Jaden Wiest
  • MCAT High – Shaniyah Griffin, Ester Olivas

At the luncheon, 2022 Marana High School Hall of Fame inductees recognized were:

  • Dr. Allison (Murphy) Garland and David Martinez III

“The Marana Schools’ 2340 Foundation is committed to ensuring that every student is prepared for future success and has a vision for life,” said Dr. Jan Truitt, president of the 2340 Foundation. “We believe the key to a vibrant community is an excellent educational experience for all students. Through partnerships with business and community members, we are able to provide scholarships and celebrate excellence in the Marana school district.”
